About the event

In this webinar series for the SPII community, SSF and ZHAW invite you to join us in bridging the gap between academic research and real-world practice in impact investing. This webinar series will translate key academic insights –  from the risk–return profile of impact investments to blended finance mechanisms – into accessible and practical guidance for practitioners. In the first half of each session, ZHAW will present selected findings from academic research. In the second half, we will hear from practitioners in a roundtable discussion, where they share their experiences in applying these principles in practice.

The first edition of this series focuses on the client perspective in impact investing. We explore key research insights on investor preferences – particularly the trade-off between value alignment and impact, the role of behavioral biases in investment decisions, and approaches to effectively capture sustainability preferences.

Veronica Baker (SSF) and Nicola Waefler (SSF) will moderate the first edition of the webinar series. Julia Meyer (ZHAW) and Beat Affolter (ZHAW) will be answering the following three questions from an academic perspective:

  • Do investors truly care about impact?
  • Are investor decisions effective in impact investing?
  • Is there a gap between what clients want and what they get?

The same three questions will be directed at two practitioners, Cliff Kim (Raiffeisen), and James Crawshaw (Inyova Impact Investing) who will be sharing their experience.

We are looking forward to your participation.
