WWF Switzerland is organizing this event, hosted by Green Fintech Network to explore the Financial Centre Initiative and its implications for the Swiss financial centre. It brings together representatives from financial institutions, fintechs, and civil society to discuss how Switzerland can better align financial flows with climate and biodiversity goals.
The discussion will address both practical and political questions:
- Why is the initiative needed?
- Where have voluntary approaches and self-regulation fallen short?
- And what would it mean in practice for banks, insurers, pension funds, and other financial market participants to align their activities abroad with international climate and biodiversity goals?
The event will bring together different perspectives, highlight current challenges and opportunities, and create space for an informed exchange on the role of the financial sector in supporting the transition to a sustainable economy. A short input will introduce the initiative, followed by a panel discussion on how it could help strengthen credibility, responsibility, and real-world impact of the Swiss financial centre.
